Battalion: 3rd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Son of John William and Clara Davidson, of 101, Wellington Street, New Whittington, Derbyshire. He was a labourer prior to enlisting on 3rd June 1915 at Chesterfield. He went to France on 6th March 1916. and suffered gunshot wounds to his right thigh, 13th November 1916. He was treated at 49 Casualty Clearing Station, Contay, France, before being taken to No.5 General Hospital, Rouen, on 14th November 1915. He was transferred to England on Hospital Ship Dunluce Castle, 19th November 1916. He was posted to the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and returned to France on 14th August 1917. he was then posted to the 1/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 2nd October 1917. He suffered gunshot wounds to his left cheek, 30th May 1918 and was transferred to England on the 1st September 1918. He died of wounds, 9th February 1919, aged 22, at Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
