Born in Kilkenny, Ireland. Brother of Nellie Buckland, of 15A line, Bulford Camp, Wiltshire. He was a barman prior to enlisting on 1st September 1914 at Bakewell, Derbyshire. He went to France on 28th February 1915 and was killed in action, 30th September 1915, when the Germans exploded a mine and shelled the trenches near Outerdom, Belgium.
