Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born in Nottingham and lived at 3a, St. Marks’ Street, Nottingham. Son of John and Mary Ann Dale, of 26, Calcutta Street, St. Anns Well Road, Nottingham. He was a packing case maker prior to enlisting on 14th October 1901 at Nottingham into the Mounted Infantry. He served in India and was appointed Lance Corporal on 7th September 1914. He went to France on 4th November 1914 and was killed in action, 9th May 1915, aged 29, during the attack on Rouges Bancs, France.
