Born and lived at Ashopton, Derbyshire. Son of Thomas and Jane Dakin, of Ashopton. He assisted in the family grocery business prior to enlisting at Buxton, Derbyshire. Killed in action, 21st March 1918, aged 25, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
