Born at Castle Donnington, Leicestershire. Son of William and Sarah Ann Dakin. He enlisted on 1st September 1914 at Derby. He went to France on 4th January 1915 and was killed in action, on 11th March 1915, aged 24, during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, France.
