Born at Radford Nottingham and lived at 32, Salisbury Street, Old Radford, Nottingham. Son of Arthur and Annie Daft, of Denman Street, Nottingham. Husband of Lilly Daft. He enlisted at Derby and went to France on 8th September 1914 with the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He was later transferred to the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and was killed in action, 26th September 1916, aged 26, in the attack on the German positions near Ovillers, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
