Born in Kimberley, Nottinghamshire and lived at Bulwell, Nottingham. Son of William and Emma Cutts. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, 4th November 1918, in the attack on the German positions at Croix du Nord, France. 
Buried: Englefontaine British Cemetery, France. Row B. Grave 22.
