Son of Henry and Ellen Ann Curran, of 44, Coppice Road, Mapperley, Nottingham. He was a coal miner at Gedling Colliery, Nottinghamshire prior to enlisting on 14th September 1914 at Nottingham. He went to France on 20th February 1915 and suffered gunshot wounds to his head, 4th June 1915. He died of these wounds, 9th June 1915, aged 21, at Reading War Hospital, England.
