Born at Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire and lived at Annesley Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire. Son of Isabella and Jabez Cupit, of 49 Main Street, Annesley Woodhouse. Husband of Claudia Cupit, of 8 Sherwood Street, Annesley Woodhouse. He was a butcher prior to enlisting on 8th December 1915 at Kirkby-in-Ashfield. He was posted to the 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and went to France on 3rd July 1917. He was posted to the 2/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 27th July 1917 and was killed in action on 26th September 1917, during the attack at St. Julian, Belgium.
