Born at New Whittington, Derbyshire. Son of James Bell and Elizabeth Cummins, of 119, Foundry Street, Whittington Moor, Chesterfield. He enlisted at Chesterfield and was killed in action, 27th May 1918, aged 18, whilst the battalion was in a retiring fight from Montagne de Guyancourt, France.
