Son of John Henry and Hannah Elizabeth Crowder, of 6, Prospect Place, Newbold Road, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was a gardener prior to enlisting on 17th April 1912 at Chesterfield. He went to France on 28th February 1915 and died on 8th August 1915, aged 21, from pleurisy at 50 Casualty Clearing Station, Hazebrouck, France.
