Born and lived at Retford, Nottinghamshire. So of Pearce and Ann Crossland, of 19, Canal Street, Retford. He was a coal merchants labourer prior to enlisting at Retford. He was wounded on 1st August 1917 and died of wounds on 15th September 1917, at the Italian Hospital, Queen’s Square, London.
