Born in Nottingham and lived at Ilkley, Yorkshire. Son of Edward F. Cross, of Nottingham. He was an accountant prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He died of wounds and gas poisoning, 23rd August 1917, aged 35, sustained whilst serving in the Cavrelle Switch Line, near Plouvian, France.
