Battalion: 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of William and Sabina Cross, of 94 Arnold Road, Old Basford, Nottingham. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 29th May 1915 at Nottingham. He went to France on 6th March 1916 and was killed in action, 10th October 1916, in the British attack on the Schwaben Redoubt near Thiepval, France during the Battle of the Somme.
