Son of George and Sarah Ann Cross, of 56, William Street, Newark, Nottinghamshire. Husband of Florence Cross, of 20 Church Street, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He was a fish and game dealer prior to enlisting at Newark. He went to France on 28th June 1915. He was killed in action, 28th April 1918, aged 39, at Sailly-Labourse, France whilst carrying rations to the trenches at Essarts, France.
