Born and lived in Sheffield, Yorkshire. Son of Willie and Florence Crookes, of 120, Matlock Road, Walkley, Sheffield. He enlisted at Sheffield and died on 27th May 1918, as a prisoner of war.

Buried: Vailly British Cemetery, France. Plot 3. Row A. Grave 44.
