Born and lived in Nottingham. Husband of Susannah Crofts, of 13A, Cremorne Street, Meadows, Nottingham. He was an iron founder’s line keeper prior to enlisting at Nottingham and went to France on 14th July 1915. He was killed in action when serving on the Blackline, near Arras, France, 3rd July 1917, aged 42.
