Born and lived at Matlock, Derbyshire. Son of Wilfred and Emily Croft, of 2 Richmond Terrace New Street, Matlock. He enlisted at Chesterfield and was killed in action, 3rd September 1916, during the attack near Beaumont Hamel, France during the Battle of the Somme.
