Born and lived at Ruddington, Nottinghamshire. Son of Henry and Eliza Cripwell, of Easthorpe Street, Ruddington. Husband of Catherine Cripwell, of Easthorpe Street, Ruddington, Nottinghamshire. He was a groom prior to enlisting at West Bridgford, Nottingham. He was killed in action, 12th July 1917, aged 41, in the German attack on the British line at Ephey, France.
