Born and lived at Church Gresley, Derbyshire. Son of Albert and Eliza Cresswell, of 35, Hall Street, Church Gresley, Derbyshire. Husband of Ada Cresswell. He was a coal miner at Granville Colliery, Swadlincote, Derbyshire prior to enlisting on 8th August 1914 at Derby. He went to France on 1st March 1915 and was discharged on 14th April 1916 suffering from osteoarthritis. He died on 12th November 1917, aged 27.
