Born at Denby, Derbyshire, 6th December 1897. Son of Benjamin and Annie Elizabeth Cresswell, of 5, Grandfield Street, Loscoe, Codnor, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 13th July 1915 at Ilkeston, Derbyshire. He went to France 10th March 1916 and was killed in action, 21st March 1918, aged 20, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
