Son of Edward Walter and Eliza Cresswell, of 64, Lenton Boulevard, Nottingham. He was a draper prior to enlisting on 1st December 1915. He went to France on 29th March 1916 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, aged 37, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
