Battalion: 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Barrow Hill, Derbyshire and lived at New Whittington, Derbyshire. Son of Elijah and Emma Cresswell, of 227, Barrow Hill. Husband of Florence Gertrude Cresswell, of 82 Handley Road, New Whittington. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He went to France on 18th August 1915 and was killed in action, on 31st July 1917, in the attack at Steenbeeke, Belgium.
