Private Arthur Cresswell

Battalion: 5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Son of Joseph and Sarh Cresswell, of “The Horse and Jockey”, Cow Hill, Belper, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 4th September 1914 at Derby. He was seriously wounded whilst on sentry duty on the 8th June 1915 when he suffered gunshot wounds to his head and right arm, resulting in amputation at No. 11 General Hospital, Boulogne. He was transferred to England and died after surgery in Nottingham on 24th September 1917, aged 21.
