Born at Camberwell, London. Son of George and Eliza Cray of 14, Beverstone Road, Brixton Hill, London. He was a dental assistant prior to enlisting on 31st October 1915 in London. He was transferred to the Battalion: 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 24th September 1917 and was killed in action, 12th October 1917, age 25, in the attack near Hazebrouck, Belgium.
