Born and lived in Stepney, London. Son of Johanna Crawley, of 28, Thirza Street, Hardinge Street, Stepney, London. He was a car man prior to enlisting on 16th November 1917 at Hounslow, Middlesex. He went to France on 24th March 1918 and was transferred to the 2/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 30th March 1918. He was killed in action, 16th April 1918, aged 21, in the German attack on the British positions near Kemmel, Belgium.
