Battalion: 4th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Thornborough, Buckinghamshire. Son of William and Sarah Cranwell, of Mill Cottage, Thornborough. Husband of Frances Gertrude Cranwell, of 172, Pool Road, Leicester. He was a farm wagoner prior to enlisting at Leicester. He was later transferred to the 4th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and died of wounds on 14th April 1917, aged 35, at Sunderland.

Buried: Sunderland (Bishopwearmouth) Cemetery, United Kingdom. 2. AE. 1419.
