Private Charles Crampton

Battalion: 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Balderton, Nottinghamshire. Son of Edwin and Annie Crampton, of 11 Barnby Crossing, Newark, Nottinghamshire. He was a brake lad in a plaster pit prior to enlisting at Newark. He went to France on 25th June 1915 and was killed in action on 5th August 1915, whilst serving in the line at Sanctuary Wood, near Ypres, Belgium.
