Born, 7th February 1899 at Sunderland. Son of Henry and Elizabeth Craig, of 19, Hedley Street, Millfield, Sunderland. He was a locomotive fireman prior to enlisting on 13th January 1917 into the 13th Training Battalion. He was transferred to the Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 24th November 1917 and went to France on 17th March 1918, and posted to the 2/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 21st March 1918. He was killed in action, on 18th April 1918, aged 19, during the German attack near Kemmel, Belgium.
