Born and lived at Crowle, Lincolnshire. Son of George and Martha Coy, of Market Place, Crowle. Husband of Mary Elizabeth Coy, of Bowling Green Lane, Crowle, Lincolnshire. He was a farm labourer prior to enlisting at Crowle. He was awarded the Military Medal, London Gazette Date 14th January 1918. For gallantry and devotion to duty during operations at Bulgar Wood, on 20/21st September 1917. He died of wounds, 2nd May 1918, aged 33 at a hospital in Sunderland.

Buried: Crowle Cemetery Lincolnshire, United Kingdom. Grave 1153.
