Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of Arthur and Harriet Cox, of 407 Frederick Grove, Lenton, Nottingham. Husband of Daisy May Cox, of 68 Percy Street, Old Basford, Nottingham. He was a postman prior to enlisting on 6th April 1904 at Derby. into the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He was transferred to the Army Reserve, 20th April 1907. He was mobilised on 5th August 1914 at Derby. He was posted to the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 2nd October 1914 and went to France on 4th November 1914. He was admitted to No. 2 Stationary Hospital at Outreau, France with a back injury and was transferred to England on 5th February 1915. He was admitted to the Monkwearmouth and Southwick Hospital, Sunderland, on 9th September 1916 and died of stricture of the urethra and cystitis, 1st April 1917.
