Born and lived at Leicester. Son of Alfred and Emily Cox, of, 8, Carley Street, Leicester; Husband of Kate Cox, of, 13, Crane Street, Leicester. He was a bootmaker prior to enlisting at Leicester. He was killed in action, 26th November 1916, aged 21, whilst serving in the line near Arras.

His brother Private Joseph Hamas Cox, Worcestershire Regiment, also fell in the Great War.
