Born and lived at Beeston, Nottingham. Son of John and Elizabeth Cox, of Beeston. Husband of Norah Cox, of 21, Evelyn Street, Beeston. He was a house painter and decorator prior to enlisting on 11th December 1915 at Beeston. He was admitted to No. 4 Casualty Clearing Station, Varennes, France with a sprained right ankle and transferred to No. 16 General Hospital, Le Treport, on 26th March 1917. He was sent to England, on 15th May 1917. He returned to France on 28th July 1917 and suffered gunshot wounds to his abdomen, on 26th September 1917. He died of wounds, on 27th September 1917, aged 29, at No. 61 Casualty Clearing Station Lozinghem, Belgium.
