Born and lived in Huddersfield, Yorkshire. Son of George and Mary Cox, of 8, Croft House Lane, Marsh, Huddersfield. He was a clerk prior to enlisting at Huddersfield. He was killed in action 31st July 1917, aged 28, whilst serving in the line at Steenbeeke, near Ypres, Belgium
