Born at Old Basford, Nottingham and lived at 59, 59, Thorneywood Rise, Nottingham. Adopted son of Albert and Anne Diggle, of 59, Thorneywood Rise, Nottingham. He was Joiner prior to enlisting on 19th January 1915 at Nottingham. He suffered gunshot wounds to his head, chest and arm, 5th October 1915 and was treated at 36 Field Ambulance. He was transferred to 15th General Hospital, Boulogne, France on the 7th October 1915 and died of wounds on 11th October 1915, aged 26.
