Battalion: 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Hockley, Birmingham. Son of George and Maria Cox, of 8 Court House. Talfourd Street, Small Heath, Birmingham. He was a brass castor prior to enlisting on 24th August 1914 at Birmingham. He was posted to the 2nd South Staffordshire Regiment, 8th February 1915 and was posted to the 7th South Staffordshire Regiment, and went to Gallipoli, 15th September 1915. He went to France on 10th July 1916 and was transferred to the 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 20th July 1916. He suffered shrapnel wounds to his right shoulder and gunshot wounds to his back, 26th September 1916 and was transferred to England on Hospital Ship Panama, 30th September 1916. On recovery, he returned to France 6th Jule 1917 and was posted to the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He died of wounds on 7th October 1917, at No. 4 Casualty Clearing Station, Lozingham, Belgium.
