Born at Sheffield, Yorkshire and lived at Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire. Son of Frank and Annie Coupe, of 78 Sherwood Street, Mansfield Woodhouse. He was a coal miner (pony driver) prior to enlisting at Mansfield. He went to France on 18th May 1915 and was accidentally killed on 12th July 1915, whilst in the line near Rue-de Quesnoy, France.
