Born at Barton-on Humber, Lincolnshire. Son of William and Harriet Coulam, of Barton-On-Humber. He was a tailor prior to enlisting at Grimsby. He went to France on 9th July 1916 and was killed in action, 8th August 1916, age 39, during a German gas attack on the British line near Arras, France.
