Corporal Herbert Alfred Cottee

Born at Swaffham, Norfolk and lived at 65 Noel Street, Nottingham. Son of Walter Cottee, of 75 St. Anns Well Road, Nottingham. Stepson of Winifred Cottee, 245A, Ilkeston Road, Nottingham. He was a Lace Hand prior to enlisting on 7th July 1908 at Nottingham. He served in India from 7th October 1909 to 2nd September 1914. He was appointed Lance Corporal on 3rd October 1914 and went to France on 4th November 1914. Promoted Corporal 11th March 1915. He suffered gunshot wounds to his scalp on 13th May 1915 and died of wounds, on 8th June 1915, at 2nd Stationary Hospital Boulogne, France.
Commonwealth War Graves Commission shows the surname as Cottie.
