Born at Islington, London. Son of William and Helen Corthorn, of 44 Dunkirk Road, Nottingham. Husband of Alice Corthorn, of 3, Chanery Place, Broad Marsh, Nottingham. He served In The South African Campaign. He was an iron foundry man prior to re-enlisting on 2nd November 1914 at Nottingham. Was posted to the 14th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 13th November 1914. He went to Egypt on 4th April 1915 and died of dysentery on 5th September 1915 aged 36. dysentery
