Son of Joseph and Mary Jane Cornish, of 7, Court, East Reach, Taunton, Somerset. He was a packer prior to enlisting on 15th February 1917 into the Royal Berkshire Regiment. He went to France on 22nd March 1918 and was transferred to the 2/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on the 28th March 1918. He was posted to the 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 10th June 1918. He re-enlisted 22nd January 1919 and went to Egypt, 24th August 1919 with the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He died of illness, 22nd January 1920, aged 20, at the Military Hospital Alexandria, Egypt.
