Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Clarborough, near Retford, Nottinghamshire. Son of Thomas and Alice Cordall, of Bolham, Retford. He was a pickle maker at Messrs Ashworth’s Mill, Retford, prior to enlisting at Retford in January 1915. He was killed in action on 5th July 1916 in the attack on the German positions at La Boisselle, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
