Battalion: 2/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Riddings, Derbyshire. Son of James and Sarah Ann Corby, of Ripley, Derbyshire. Husband of Maggie Corby, of Mill Lane, Codnor, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting, 15th May 1917 at Ilkeston, Derbyshire. He went to France on 14th August 1917 with the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and was posted to the 2/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 30th August 1917 and 2/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 7th April 1918. He was killed in action, 15th April 1919, in the German attack near Kemmel, Belgium.
