Battalion: 7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Sowerby Bridge, Yorkshire. Son of Herbert and Lizzie Copley, of 54, Sowerby Street, Sowerby Bridge, Yorkshire. He was a cotton spinner prior to enlisting on 17th September 1916 at Halifax. He was posted to the 2nd Training Reserve Battalion on 12th April 1917. He was transferred to the 7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and went to France on 2nd April 1918. He was killed in action, 14th April 1918, age 19, whilst in the line near Neuve-Eglise, Belgium.
