Born in Nottingham and lived at 19 Church Drive, Carrington Nottingham. Son of Richard and Eliza Cope, of 24, Bloomfield Street, Nottingham. He was an errand boy prior to enlisting a Nottingham. He died, 5th September 1916, aged 20, at 29 Casualty Clearing Station, Gezaincourt, France.
