Private Claude Cope

Battalion: 1/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of William and Isabella Cope, of 21, Warwick Street, Old Lenton, Nottingham. He was an errand boy prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, aged 19, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
