Born and lived at Wigan. Son of William and Margaret Cooper, of 17, Duke Street, Goose Green, Wigan. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 4th May 1915 at Wigan. He went to France on 2nd April 1918 and was transferred to the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 3rd April 1918. He died of wounds, 6th May 1918, aged 19.
