Private Percy Cooper

Battalion: 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Desborough, Northamptonshire. Son of Frederick and Lizzie Cooper, of 9 Mount Pleasant, Brampton, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Husband of Harriett Cooper. He was a quarry labourer prior to enlisting on 22nd April 1913 at Nottingham. He went to France on 11th November 1914 and was admitted to 2nd General Hospital, Le Havre, France, suffering from frostbite on 25th January 1915. He was transferred to England on Hospital Ship Asturias, 26th January 1915. He returned to France 24th April 1915 and was killed in action, 9th August 1915, in the attack at Sanctuary Wood, near Ypres, Belgium.
