Born and lived at Unstone, Derbyshire. Son of John and Jane Elizabeth Cooper, of Unstone, Derbyshire. Husband of Ada Cooper. He was a bricklayer prior to enlisting at Chesterfield, Derbyshire and died of wounds on 3rd June 1917, aged 47.

Buried: Noeux-Les-Mines Communal Cemetery, France. Plot 1. Row T. Grave 12.
