Born in Reading, Berkshire. Son of Emma M. Cooper, of Reading. He was a baker prior to enlisting on 12th August 1914 at Southampton. He went to France on 5th October 1914 and was awarded the Good Conduct Badge, 11th August 1916. He was transferred to the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 1st November 1917. He died of wounds on 26th April 1918, aged 23.
